CYA Basic Cruising Course

The objective the the CYA Basic Cruising standard is to be able to cruise safely in familiar waters as both skipper and crew of a sloop-rigged keelboat of six to 10 meters in moderate wind and sea conditions by day.

Many people believe the real strength of the Canadian system of learning sailing is that the programs are written to individual learning objectives for each skill identified in the standard. The program identifies where each student is now and exactly what they need to do to successfully demonstrate each skill.
